Details The coin is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Akseli Gallen-Kallela (1865-1931). Akseli Gallen-Kallela, born with the name of Waldemar Axel Gallén, was a Finnish painter, best known for his illustrations of the Kalevala, the Finnish national epic.

The upper part of the coin depicts figures represented in some of his paintings and at the bottom a painter's palette is displayed. The lower edge of the central ring features the words Akseli Gallen Kallela, the year of his birth, 1865 and the year of issue 2015, as wel as the mintmark of the Mint of Finland ( Suomen Rahapaja).
