The Official Blister 2013 contains the 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 cent coins and 1, 2 euros (unc), accompanied by a mint medal from the series “Finnish lighthouses” commemorating the lighthouse on Tankar
The lighthouse was first lit in 1889 and since that time it guides seafarers towards Kokkola harbour 15 kilometres away. The island features a church, ornithological station and pilot station. According to many historical sources, the lighthouse was designed by the same Parisian agency that designed the Eiffel Tower.
Finnish euro coins have three designs, though two of them are each found on one coin only. Heikki Haivaoja was the designer of the Finnish euro coins for the minor and middle series of coins. Pertti Makinen is the designer of the Finnish 1 euro coin and Raimo Heino is the designer of the Finnish 2 Euro coin. Finnish euro coins 1999 - 2006 carry the mint mark M which is the initial of the mint master at The Mint of Finland, Raimo Makkonen.
The coin series dedicated to Tankar Lighthouse was launched on 17 January at the Nordic Travel Fair held in Helsinki. |
