Details The coin commemorates the 200th anniversary of the Malta Police Force which was set up by means of proclamation XXII of 1814, when Sir Thomas Maitland was Governor of Malta. The Maltese Government took over the Force in 1921, following the grant of self-government.

The role of a police officer is multifaceted. It includes the preservation of public order and peace; the prevention, detection and investigation of offences; and the collection of evidence against offenders.

The obverse of coin depicts the emblem of the Malta Police Force and the dates 1814 - 2014. The coin was minted at the Royal Dutch Mint.
