On the basis of an agreement with the EU, Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City can distribute Euro Coins, too. The Monegasque Euro coins have the smallest mintage quantity of all the Euro Zone members. The passing of H.S.H., the Sovereign Prince Rainier III in April 2005, required a new series of coins be issued, thus Monaco has issued two different series of euro coins. The new series, issued in December 2006, represents the accession of H.S.H., the Sovereign Prince Albert II to the Mon?gasque throne.
