Yiannis Androulakis

Introvert and pessimistic are some of the most basic components of who I am, or at least that's how most of my friends describe me. Given these clues and the fact that I value my personal privacy very highily, it's not hard to understand why this site remained anonymous for several years. I was persuaded to give up my handles (zardoz, vikhr, yandr and Fleur-de-Coin in chronological order) when I found out there was just too much information about me laying around on the Internet, as I have posted hundrends of thousands of messages in Newsgroups and Forums. The three sites I have developed since 1997 haven't help my desperate situation either, so after a long time of hidding in the shadows (!?!) I step into the light and introduce myself (how poetic). Below you can find the answers to a variety of questions I have been asked during all these years. Go ahead and take a good look at them, don't be shy, nobody is looking:

Who are you? My name is Yiannis Androulakis I come from Greece and I am an amateur coin collector
Why did you build this site? Because I wanted to come in contact with more coin collectors worldwide and exchange coins with them
Is that all? This was my sole intention at first, but when my site started generating some serious traffic, I started adding information about my coins and the Greek currency in general
Why are you selling coins? For money... what else? Seriously though, developing and maintaining Fleur-de-Coin costs me a great deal of time and an ever incrasing amount of money, so it's a kind of compensation for my troubles

I always try to return this money to the visitors of this site by adding content, improving the layout and holding contests and lotteries where the winners receive uncirculated coins from Greece, BU sets etc.
How did you decide to start selling coins? When people started asking if they could buy coins from me, I decided to give it a shot. Until then, I had never mentioned I was selling coins on-line, so it was quite a surprise for me
Why should I trust you? I have exchanged hundrends of coins since 1998, with absolutely no complaints so far, and I have sold coins to numerous customers, many of which made repeated orderes. If this is not enough, I am afraid I cannot provide a better answer. I am not keeping records of the people I am selling coins to, as it is against the rules I established for the site in the Privacy Policy
Are you a professional coin dealer? Nope! I am working as a software engineer (formerly editor in a CGO computer magazine) and I am not thinking about quitting my day job either
How much are you making? You mean by selling coins? Oh, around €200 per month! I already told you, I ain't quiting my day job any time soon and going rich is not the reason I am selling coins (I wouldn't say no to it however ;-)
Who designed this site? Yours truly, thank you very much! I have to admit however that I have used some free code for the forum.
Why don't you accept credit cards? That's a huge responsibility and I'd rather not try it just yet. I have been using paypal in order to process any credit card payments, at an additional cost though.
Any great plans for the future? I am always trying to find interesting things to write about and incorporate new technologies. I have quite a few (pressumably) good ideas, but absolutely zero time to implement them. Anyway, progress will be slow but steady.
