The Year Set consists of: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 cent coins and 1, 2 euros.
Estonian euro coins feature a single design by Lembit Lohmus for all eight coins; a contour of Estonia together with the word Eesti (Estonia) and twelve stars, symbolic of the EU, surrounding the map.
The design was chosen in a public competition which was announced on June 2004, but the final decision by telephone voting raised a great criticism during 2010. Many people started to protest against the design of Estonian euro coins asking to change the initial idea and follow EU Member States on assigning different symbols to different coins |
