Obverse of Slovakia 2 euros 2018 - 25th Anniversary of the Slovak Republic
Details The Bank of Slovakia announced in January 2017 the release of a commemorative 2-euro coin in 2018, dedicated to the "25th Anniversary of the Slovak Republic", which occurred after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia on January 1, 1993. The separation of Slovakia from the more prosperous and industrialized Czech Republic was promoted by Slovak nationalism and the unrest caused by the economic reforms established by the Czechoslovak government in Prague. Reforms that left many Slovaks out of work. Since 1 May 2004, Slovakia has been a Member State of the European Union and adopted the euro on 1 January 2009.

The design consists of an arch that symbolizes the gateway to Europe in which they appear crossing the territory of Slovakia and its coat of arms, thus expressing the integration of the country in the European Union. The accession to the eurozone is represented by the symbol of the euro and the stars of the European flag.
