Stinis, N Perantinos Description: The phoenix bird symbolizes immortality, resurrection and life after death in the ancient Greek and Egyptian mythology. According to the Greeks, the bird lives in Arabia, near a cool well and every morning at dawn, the sun god would stop his chariot to listen to the bird sing. Only one phoenix exists at a time. When the bird felt its death was near, every 500 to 1,461 years, it would build a nest of aromatic wood and set it on fire. Falireas Obverse: Denomination (20 lepta) and an olive branch Reverse: Date, crown and the words "Kingdom of Greece" Description: The coins issued in 1954 and 1964 were minted in Bern, the ones issued in 1959 were minted in Paris, and the ones issued in 1966, 1969 and 1971 were minted in Prague. The 20 lepta coins dated 1971 have a smaller hole in the center.
