|Celebrating UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Belgium. The first issue in this new series shows the Grote Markt square in Antwerp and the Grand'Place Bruxelles. The Grote Markt is beautifully surrounded by the Town Hall and the so-called houses of the Guilds or corporations. The Grand'Place is the most important tourist destination and most memorable landmark in Brussels, along with the Atomium and Manneken Pis. It measures 68 by 110 metres (223 by 360 ft), and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The blister contains the 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 cent coins and 1, 2 euros (unc), as well as a commemorative silver medal. The Belgian euro coins feature only a single design for all eight coins: the portrait or effigy of King Albert II of Belgium and his royal monogram (a capital 'A' underneath a crown). Also part of the design by Jan Alfons Keustermans (Director of the Municipal Academy of Fine Arts of Turnhout) are the 12 stars of the EU and the year of imprint.
[The 1 cents, 2 cents, 50 cents and 1 euro coins of 2005 are only included in this BU set]
