|The French Starter Kit was issued on 14 December 2001, priced at FRF 100. It contains 40 coins from the years 1999, 2000 and 2001:
France was not just one of the founders of the European Union but also was one of the first countries to adopt the euro. French euro coins have three different designs; the minor series was designed by Fabienne Courtiade, the middle one by Laurent Jorio and the major two coins are by Joaquim Jimenez. All designs share the 12 stars of the EU and the year of imprint as well as the letters "RF" for Republique Francaise (French Republic). In the French Euro Zone the overseas territories of French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique and Reunion are also included.
