The Acropolis Museum was located in Athens, Greece on the archeological site of Acropolis until June 2007. It was considered one of the major archaeological museums in Athens and ranked among the most important museums of the world. Due to its limited size, the Greek Government decided in the late 1980s to build the New Acropolis Museum at the base of the Acropolis.
The New Acropolis Museum Blister 2008 was issued on 15 December 2008 with a mintage of 10,000 pieces. It contains the 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 cent coins and 1, 2 euros (unc), along with a silver 10 euros 2008 coin commemorating the occasion, featuring a panoramic view of the Acropolis and one of the so many pedimental sculptures from the Parthenon. |
